Kinds of Hydraulic Cranes
Hydraulic cranes are one of the most frequently used types of crane within the construction industry. They are utilized to construct everything from freeway overpasses and roadways to skyscrapers and buildings.
There is a huge range of crane units, sizes and styles available on the market. There are many different types in order to serve a variety of different reasons within the industry. Choosing the right kind of crane is really crucial for making sure that the material could be efficiently and safely transported to the location it needs to get to in order for the construction process to begin.
Truck Cranes
Truck cranes would usually have 2 different cabs. One cab is used to drive the truck unit when in transport mode, whereas the other is for controlling the crane. These cranes are extremely helpful for building sites where a crane is required in numerous different places for the duration of the build. This is because of the fact that the crane is capable of being driven easily from one place to another.
Cranes can also be transported to different construction locations on the road as they drive themselves, that eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own really reduces transport expenses at the end of the day.
One disadvantage of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads that a hydraulic crane can handle. Thus, to be able to fix this issue, outriggers could be extended from the deck. The outriggers make use of hydraulic pressure to be able to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it stable and balanced.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has large tracks on the bottom of the crane. These huge tracks are very like backhoes and bulldozers. The tracks enable the crane to successfully move around a construction site.
