Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They could run from liquid propane or LP gas, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for many applications. There are several facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled whenever they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that are able to be changed out when the equipment has to be refueled.
In order to prevent potentially serious injury, specific precautions should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be sure to wear the appropriate safety equipment like goggles or safety glasses and heavy gloves. Turn off the ignition of the forklift prior to changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is firmly closed. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never utilize a metal tool or any type of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened only by utilizing the hand.
