Dangers of Type-G forklifts
The forklift is essential for performing warehouse tasks. These extremely capable machines lift and transport loads of immense size from one location to another. Forklifts have many variations. The main variation is the way in which various kinds of forklifts are fueled. "LP" forklifts are the type that is most popular. They run on liquid propane. Type "E" lift trucks run on electricity and have big rechargeable batteries. Type "D" lift trucks are powered by diesel and type "G" utilize gasoline. Though all lift trucks, like any piece of heavy machine, could pose a danger, the type of lift trucks that are powered by gasoline carry the most risks.
Fire
Forklifts labelled type G could present a fire hazard. Gas lift trucks are not made with the same rigorous standards. Gas leaks are the biggest cause of fire due mainly to gas leaks and also escaped gas fumes. This can result from accidents and from driving on extremely rough terrain or normal wear. These circumstances pose a danger and could cause fire. Hence, a standard Type G forklift must never be utilized in conditions where elevated fire risk is deemed unacceptable. For example, these types of forklifts must not be used around hazardous or explosive chemicals.
Explosion
Gas forklifts also pose a danger of explosion, as do liquid propane and diesel based lift trucks. A gasoline powered forklift could explode as a result of a serious mishap in circumstances where an ignition source and a gasoline leak are both present. An explosion can occur when sparks are created in the collision and the sparks ignite the gasoline.
Fumes and Exhaust
Because of bad fumes, the gas forklift does pose a risk for inhalation, which could be deadly in higher concentrations. Fumes could result from gasoline leaks or from the exhaust itself. Hence, a Type G lift truck is really not recommended for any environment which is poorly ventilated. The exhaust would present a serious danger in enclosed places. This kind of lift truck must be used carefully when operated in close proximity to individuals.
