Forklift trucks are essential pieces of machines utilized widely in business, particularly within distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial plants. A lift truck is constructed of hundreds of components, like the carriage, the cab, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks usually have a range of attachments also. The following are a few of the most essential lift truck parts.
Engine of the Forklift - the lift truck is made with a power source at the rear of the machine. Various types of forklift truck have different types of engine that need varying power sources. Like for instance, a forklift with an internal combustion engine could have as its power source any of the following: LP gas, CNG gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Truck Frame - The frame of the truck is the base of the lift truck and the most vital of all the lift truck parts. This forms the machine's core. All other forklift parts are attached to the base, including the axles, mast, wheels counterweight and overhead guard. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may be part of the frame assembly as well.
Counterweight Forklift Parts - While lifting heavy cargo, the counterweight allows the equipment to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes connected to the back of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift gives balance and could work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the machinery. Several forklifts have a cab area that is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are numerous parts located in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such important components like the switches, levers, steering wheel, operator controls, pedals and seats. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
